Description

Just an updated picture of my LIFE drawing. Had poor picture quality before, so I decided to do an actual scan. Done with a simple HB pencil.

The surreal use of objects in this image is fascinating. The fact that is a pencil sketch adds texture and tones to it that might not exist if it had been coloured. The subtle veins and background images add to this.
The eyes are deep and expressive. They are the right size and consistent, although the eyelashes are a bit thrown together looking and some of the eyes don't have eyelashes at all. Now, being a surreal piece, that could be deliberate but it doesn't look quite right.
I like how the shading has been done around the objects. The slight gap, which can be sometimes dismissed as laziness or lack of experience, works really well here because it highlights the foreground objects. It means that the objects are not lost in the background.
There is no real focus on the image and so much going on it can be bad and there only focus seems a little out of place in the image. The spade graffiti style. The hand is almost lost in the image. The best idea is to add something to highlight some of the objects because they are lost in the image.
The image is cleverly done but there is a lot going on in it. Try and tone it down a little or make the foreground and background clearly separate.
